Naturechild

There is a saying in Japanese culture,
that if the spirit of the unborn child is strong and vibrant,
you will be able to boil a kettle over the navel of the mother's belly

From newborn to teenage, for any kind of disorder, acupuncture is a safe and effective way to help children's bodies to harmonise themselves through strengthening the immune system and treating any presenting symptoms.

Most children do not like needles, but Jani finds that her kids do come back for more; because it's gentle, it's fun and it works. Jani works closely with parents to ensure their children are on the best diet for their condition, as she firmly believes that 'food is the first medicine'. She also is able to teach parents many useful treatment techniques (not needles!) to use at home.

Because Jani works with many different practitioners she is able to offer an assessment service for parents who are unsure of which therapies might be the most effective for their child, and to help find the best place to start.

There is much to be said about how acupuncture treatment can help children.

In the short term here is a list of some of the conditions that acupuncture is particularly effective treatment for:
  • ear infections
  • chronic cough
  • recurrent infections
  • asthma
  • eczema
  • sleeping issues
  • digestive disorders
  • bedwetting

Acupuncture is an excellent therapy for these conditions because of the way that Chinese diagnosis can differentiate the internal condition of the body.

  • Different children may have the same presenting symptoms, yet the constitutional condition of each child is unique to that individual. Because we can make this differentiation in Chinese medicine it means that we can apply the appropriate treatment for each individual child.

Chinese diagnosis is also very effective for identifying when a physical symptom may stem more from an emotional issue that a physiological one.

Please check back again, as we are in the process of updating this section to bring you a fuller explanation of how acupuncture can help in the treatment of children.
