We rush around madly in our busy lives, and for many people stress is a normal feeling. Even our children have too busy lives! We are bombarded by the overload of modern living.
Acupuncture balances all the bodies systems, creating an internal harmony, revitalising from within. This is why so many people feel a great sense of stress relief when they have treatment.

Jani’s approach to acupuncture treatment
In the first consultation there is a comprehensive history taking including a light physical examination. We do not use needles in this first session. Acupuncture is a process, and we recommend that you come for a course of treatment, to give the best opportunity to fine tune and balance your system.
Because of her specialist training, Jani uses many different techniques and practices in a very gentle style.
She works with many practitioners from across the complementary and western spectrums: knowing when and where to refer, to help ensure the right combination of treatment for the best possible outcome. Jani's work is about helping people to find the right balance; in treatment, in diet, and in lifestyle, to suit each individual's particular needs.
Jani's training is in the 5 Element tradition and this is the basis of her style of practice. She has also had extensive study in Japanese acupuncture techniques, a very gentle approach to acupuncture treatment, and she has also done extensive post graduate study in the fields of gynaecology and the physio/pathology of pregnancy principally in the TCM style.
Many people may not be aware that there are many traditions within acupuncture. All acupuncture stems from the same roots, and from the same trunk; but there are many different branches within the whole of acupuncture. These different styles developed throughout the different dynasties within China itself, and in the many different countries throughout Asia. Here in the west the main traditions which are practiced are Traditional Chinese Medicine, usually referred to as TCM, the 5 Element Tradition, and Japanese Acupuncture.
Practitioners of any of these styles refer to themselves as Traditional Acupuncturists. In this country the use of this title indicates a 3 year study of the tradition of acupuncture, different schools teach different styles, and a graduate uses the letters 'Lic Ac' to indicate they have a licenciate in acupuncture, literally a license to practice. They will also use the letters 'MBAcC' to indicate membership to the British Acupuncture Council, indicating that they have graduated from an accredited college. Many of the colleges are now validated as university degree courses, so you may also see indication of an Honors degree within a practitioners letters. (unfortunately Jani's course was not validated at the time of her graduation, but she is now working toward a Masters degree qualification.)
