Naturechild

There is a saying in Japanese culture,
that if the spirit of the unborn child is strong and vibrant,
you will be able to boil a kettle over the navel of the mother's belly

Find a local practitioner

Find a local practitioner

This site is being developed to help you find the people in your area who are doing work to support fertility, pregnancy or paediatric care, whether that is through acupuncture, or through any holistic discipline. It is also about helping you find any goods and services that support having healthy children.

Please visit our about naturechild page to find out more about this.

This site is in the process of developing a database that will help you to find a practitioner in your area. Until we have that up and running, if you are looking for an acupuncturist, you can log onto www.acupuncture.org.uk the website of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC). On the home page there is an instruction to 'find a practitioner', follow this and it will take you through to your area.

The BAcC is not able to recommend by specialisation, so you will need to ring through the contact list of practitioners in your area to ask about the kind of work they do.

It is absolutely appropriate for you to 'interview' a practitioner when making a call. Be sure to ask about their experience in treating fertility or pregnancy or with children, and don't hesitate to ask about their experience and post graduate study in the field that you are looking for.

Different people have different skills and different approaches to their work. Through conversation with a practitioner you should be able to determine if this is the right person for you. Within a community most acupuncturists will know about each others work and they may be able to recommend a local practitioner who does the sort of work you are looking for.

The Acupuncture for Childbirth Team (Oxfordshire)

www.actoxford.org.uk

The Acupuncture for Childbirth Team (ACT) is a group of independent practitioners of acupuncture who work together as a team to cover the whole of Oxfordshire County .  ACT practitioners all share a particular interest in the use of acupuncture for pregnancy, labour and post-partum care.  The aims of ACT are to promote the use of traditional acupuncture, and to increase its availability in pregnancy and childbirth, and in the post-natal period.

As a team, the group are able to establish rota coverage to ensure attendance for labour. Mothers are seen for treatment during pregnancy, allowing for the practitioner to establish a relationship prior to labour. The aim is to be able to provide continuity of care, offering support that allows the labour to progress efficiently from one stage to another, helping the mother to remain calm and focused in order to labour more effectively and as naturally as possible.

All ACT practitioners have had specialist obstetric acupuncture training, with a clear understanding of Western protocols and procedures. Our aim is to offer an integrated service that is a welcome adjunct to the work of midwives and obstetricians.

All practitioners are graduates of UK accredited colleges of traditional acupuncture and are all members of the British Acupuncture Council.  ACT practitioners adhere to the highest standards of safe practice, hold full professional indemnity cover and are bound by the BAcC code of conduct.
