There is a saying in Japanese culture,
that if the spirit of the unborn child is strong and vibrant,
you will be able to boil a kettle over the navel of the mother's belly

Fertility

Many women are told that they have what is referred to as "unexplained infertility". Chinese diagnosis can often reveal imbalances in the internal climate that inhibit conception and treatment can often correct these, resulting in a natural conception. Jani offers treatment for both men and women.

Acupuncture is a tremendous support for couples choosing assisted conception, as many recent studies have proven. It is an excellent way to help to cope with the often stressful procedures, and to help balance any side effects of the drug therapy. Acupuncture can greatly improve the chances for a successful conception.

Jani treats all aspects of gynaecological disharmony, from early teens through to menopause.

Acupuncture for fertility is an excellent way to help enhance your diagnosis, to understand more fully the reasons why you are having difficulty conceiving. Gynaecology is one of the best understood aspects of Chinese medicine; it has been studied and practiced for thousands of years.

The Chinese diagnosis offers a sophisticated understanding of the internal climate of the gynaecological organs as well as offering an excellent ability to diagnose how the other systems of the body are behaving and whether that may be having a detrimental impact on the reproductive system. In Chinese medicine all systems are related and nothing is discounted as belonging to 'another department'.

Acupuncture is always ultimately about balance. When one aspect of the whole system is in distress then it can easily have a knock on effect elsewhere. The real benefit to a Chinese diagnosis is to help understand the balance within the whole.

Acupuncture for fertility will help to regulate the menstrual cycle and to smooth out any untoward symptoms that may accompany the period such as PMT, scanty or excessive bleeds, irregular cycles, mid cycle or intramenstrual bleeds, headaches, cramping, back ache, etc. etc. Regulating the function of the menstruation will help to enhance the receptivity of the uterus, to enhance the quality of the ovum (eggs waiting to ovulate) and it will definitely make you feel better!

Acupuncture is an excellent support for women who have endometriosis, polycystic ovaries PCOS and fibroids".

Stresses and Strains

It is the body's natural instinct to conceive. Next to the need for water and for food and shelter, conception is one of our foremost survival instincts. If the body does not believe that it has the where-with-all to sustain a full term pregnancy, it will not conceive.

Conception will occur when there is enough balance between the emotional, hormonal and physical selves. This is the great thing that acupuncture has to offer; that to bring balance on all levels reduces stress. When the body and mind are less stressed there is much greater opportunity to turn the energies toward conception. This applies to both natural and assisted conception.

It is very important to re-evaluate our perception of stress. For many people working full time with a commute is 'normal'. Add to this a diet that may not be sufficient in nutrients, a hurried approach to daily life, less than clean water, less than clean air, not enough rest, and you begin to see how the degradation of all these daily tasks and functions can add up to a reduced health within the individual.

Chinese Diagnosis

Chinese medicine has the capacity to provide a very detailed and extensive diagnosis of the individual constitution of each person. Through pulse and tongue diagnosis, detailed history, signs and symptoms and through palpation we are able to make sophisticated diagnosis of how the different systems in the body are functioning; to assess levels of body fluids and the different parts of the body they may or may not be flowing to, to assess the internal climate, and in particular to assess the function of how the systems that determine fertility may be behaving.

The climate of the body is as we would perceive it in nature. There needs to be the correct balance of warmth and moisture in order for growth to flourish. If there is too much cold or too much heat in the system this can impede conception. If there is too much moisture, or not enough, this can affect conception. If there is a lack of flow (exchanges of fluids in the body, hormonally driven) through and between the bodies systems, or if the flow is erratic or unchecked, then this can affect the ability to conceive.

Chinese diagnosis is able to give us a clear picture of the internal climate, and acupuncture treatment is excellent for helping to re-establish correct flow. This kind of diagnosis gives us a great deal of scope to help understand what may be impeding the ability to conceive.

A Vital Diet = Vitality

It is important not to underestimate how vital the right nutritional input is, and Jani's approach is to combine acupuncture with good nutrition. If the body hasn't got the right building blocks, then the acupuncture may not be enough to enhance conception, and conversely if the body is being given the right nutrition but the system is not able to uptake and utilize the building blocks then this may also inhibit conception .

It is important to recognize that most of us eat a substandard diet. This may not be due to what we are eating, but more to do with the fact that most of our food simply does not have the full compliment of nutrition that we need.

Since the 1930's the governments in both the UK and the USA have recognized that the basic mineral content of our soils is deficient.  The intensive farming methods of post war agriculture have had significant impact on further stripping the health of our soils, not forgetting the added impact of the use of pesticides and herbicides. When we consider this primary degradation of our food quality then we can begin to understand that even a diet full of fruit and vegetables can still be deficient.

Because of the fact that most of our food is lacking, even organic foods may not have the necessary nutrition, it is always worth having a consultation with a good nutritionist if you are trying to get pregnant. Not only will this help with the conception, but it will ensure a vital and sufficient system to nurture the growing child.

Good antenatal nutrition is the best gift you can give to your growing baby. Building your own vitality in the months leading up to a conception is an excellent way to help ensure a healthy pregnancy, and good nutrition will build happy and healthy babies.
